Inter Africa, one of Zimbabwe’s largest bus companies, is offering free travel to elderly people aged 70 and above.
Company director Leonard Mukumba told Masvingo Mirror that the move is a sign of respect for older people and a way for the company to give back to the community. He said:
“We are happy with the stance we have taken to let our elders board our buses free of charge.
“This is going back to the cultural teachings that we should show generosity to our elders.”
David Madyangove (85), from Maramba Village in Chivi, who has benefited from the free travel, praised Inter Africa for the gesture. Said Madyangove:
“I would like to thank the owner of Inter Africa buses for such a kind gesture.
“It is hard to find bus fares to travel from one place to another at this age. Their staff handle us with care, and may God grant them blessings.”
